WHAT IS "WHOLE CURRICULUM"?
Kristin Kitko is a certified teacher and a passionate educator. She has designed a "hands-on" curriculum called Now
Ear This which uses various media and manipulatives to teach music. For example, a guitar student can tap a
drum to learn a rhythm; a piano student can play the "Toss the Bean Bag, Hit the Note" game to learn the names of notes; a
student can access the Internet to study and learn a Red Hot Chile Peppers song; a vocal student can practice with a PA system,
microphone, and musical accompaniment. Students also have opportunities to incorporate math, science, language arts and foreign
languages to learn music theory, ear training, and other music fundamentals. Kristin teaches a variety of styles, including
classical, folk, jazz, rock, blues, improv, etc.
